A beautiful spot on the Hudson without prices based on the view alone.
If you’re in Dobbs Ferry and looking for a spot with killer outdoor vibes, The Hudson Social should definitely be on your radar. Located right by the Metro-North station, it’s ridiculously convenient, and the view of the Hudson River is everything you want in a relaxing hangout. Whether you’re grabbing a drink with friends or going for something more low-key, this place nails that perfect balance of laid-back yet lively.
The Hudson Social is a great spot to dine, especially outdoors. I recently visited to watch a band called “Blackstone” and had a fantastic experience. The owner, Matt, was hosting his annual end-of-summer clambake in the parking lot, featuring ribs, corn, salads, clams, and more. For $125, guests could enjoy all-you-can-eat and drink. While $125 isn’t exactly cheap, there were plenty of people taking advantage of the offer and staying for hours. The music was fantastic, the weather was perfect with temperatures in the mid-70s and a nice breeze. It was a perfect early September day!
Me? I got the wings. :-)
The wings were good. It is not as good as some, but it is better than others. They seemed to work really well with the blue cheese, though, if you’re into it.
The outdoor bar is a full bar. It probably seats about 15 with some high tops and picnic tables around. There are a lot of heavy-duty fans in the ceiling for the hot days. There are specials and a Happy Hour complete with beer buckets. Love me a good HH!
I thought prices would be very high, but they were lower than expected. They are a bit higher than some places, but certainly lower than The Red Hat or 3 Westerly, both of which provide great views of the Hudson. For example, take the burger:
Hudson Social: $21
3 Westerly: $25
Red Hat: $26
So that’s kind of what you’re looking at. I’d also say that the Hudson Social is more about fun. They have live music every Thursday and other events.
I didn’t get pictures of their menu, but it is here on their website. You’ll see that they also offer space for private parties and catering. Such a great place to hold an event or for date night! It’s a great spot to have a bite and some vino and then take a walk along the river or through the park.
Here’s the Hudson Social Bar:
Plus, there is plenty of other outdoor seating:
If you are wondering, they also have an indoor dining area and bar. Not many seemed all that interested on this beautiful day.
The Hudson Social is a place to experience. Go for the Happy Hour and take a walk along the river. Bring someone special or take your music with you and just chill. Hit it around sunset for a beautiful view as the day dwindles.
One of the additional highlights is how easy it is to get there. If you’re heading in on the train, you can literally step off at the Dobbs Ferry stop and walk straight to the bar. No complicated parking or waiting for Ubers—it’s about as stress-free as it gets for a night out. Plus, if you’re into people-watching, this is the spot. Between locals, day-trippers, and commuters winding down their day, the energy is always lively but never too chaotic.
Bottom line: if you’re looking for a place with great outdoor seating, decent food, and a prime spot by the water, The Hudson Social delivers. It’s perfect for those relaxed summer nights or even a spontaneous weekend hangout.
