About this Chili’s
There is a point where Mahopac, Somers, and Baldwin Place meet, and I think it’s right in the middle of the bar in Chili’s. The address of this Chili’s is in Baldwin Place, but I’m calling it Mahopac. I think Google will get it.
So yeah, this is Chili’s, and like Applebees, you should know what to expect because they’re all pretty much the same. Still, there is a bar here, and so, here we are. Brinker International owns Chili’s and has adopted the cookie cutter program, and it mostly works in the tex-mex cuisine genre.
My Visit to Chili’s
I went to Chili’s on a recent Saturday for lunch. I’d been several times before and at some point I’d received a gift card so, lunch was on the card as it were. I got the “Quesadilla Explosion Salad.” I gotta tell you, the picture on the menu looked pretty damn good.
The actual salad, not quite as good.
First of all, my quesadilla was cold. I took a bite and said to the bartender, “Is this supposed to be cold?” He scowled, not at me, but in an, I’ll take care of that right away, way and said, “No. I’ll get you another, immediately.” He ran off and brought back another in about a minute. You can see it on the side in the pic above. I was hoping for a free beer at that point but that didn’t happen. Oh well. It’s a plus that he took care of the issue quickly. Anyway, I’ll avoid that menu item in the future.
Chili’s Menu
You probably know what’s on here already. Burgers, ribs, chicken, fajitas, quesadillas, etc. I’ve usually been satisfied so no major complaints on other visits. It’s why I’ve gone back.
So there are a lot of favorites on here, and the quality is usually just fine. It’s not as good as you’d get at most local pubs or a nice Mexican restaurant, but it’s quick, and the prices are ok.
Similarly to the aforementioned Applebees, Chili’s also has happy hour and drink specials. The beer happy hour special is buy one get one free. That’s only for the 12-ounce glass but who’s complaining?
And here’s the beer tap list. Nothing special but nothing bad.
The Bar at Chili’s
It’s a pretty nice bar area, actually. There are a bunch of screens on the far wall, and they’ve got all the games on. My bartender today had hockey on three tvs and basketball and soccer on others. He seemed interested in the Bruins game. Who doesn’t love a bartender that’s a hockey fan?? I digress..
The bar probably holds 15ish people and there are tables all around so there’s plenty of room if you came for whatever your “big game” of choice is.
My bartender was very attentive as noted and on other visits, I’ve never had any issues with the service. It’s also a very kid-friendly place and a good place to do large table seating if you make a reservation. They sing Happy Birthday to you and such as you might expect. It’s a large dining room but it can get busy. I’ve never seen it packed, just busy. There is plenty of free parking as this Chili’s is in the Somers Commons Shopping Mall.
Oh, there’s a nice Margarita sign on the wall near the bathroom. That’s a plus. I’ll have to try one someday.
So there you have it. Chili’s. Nothing amazing and not too bad. Good job, Brinker Intl.
