Coockie cutter. Exactly what you'd expect.

Streetview of Craft Restaurant in Pleasantville, NY

Pizza and beer are one of the greatest pairings known to man but when you combine “craft beer” and hand-crafted, made-to-order pizza, you take that pairing to the next level. Craft Pizza and Beer in Pleasantville, NY does just that.

What I had on my recent visit:

  • Founders Backwood Bastard
  • Chatham Czech’drd Past Pilsner
  • Peekskill Skills Pills
  • Spicy Chicken Pizza

What they do here at Craft is top-notch.  The pizza is great and they make and cook it to order right in front of you.  The beer selection for a small gem like this is outstanding.  You will likely find something new to enjoy. The service was quick, with a smile, and attentive.

The beer menu features nothing in the vein of mass-produced beers.  The list includes excellent choices from all over the USA including some very local favorites from Captain Lawrence, Peekskill Brewery,  SIXPOINT and KCBC.

They also serve wine.  There are many varieties but it doesn’t seem like they get touched much.  There is no hard-liquor so if you’re looking for mixed drink cocktails you’ll have to go somewhere else.  Come for the beer. Try one you haven’t before.

I love that they add the descriptions for each beer.  They are catering to a particular audience and they do it well.

I started off with the Founders Scotch Ale as I was deciding on my pizza.  Wtih the pizza I enjoy something a bit more crisp and light so I moved to the Chatham and Peekskill Pilsners. A fresh glass was used for each.  The Peeksill Pils was on tap while the others were from the bottle.  All three beers were the perfect temperature.

Making hand crafted specialty pizza in front of wood fired ovenThe pizza was cooked perfectly.  A little crisp on the bottom while the top had just the right amount of char on the crust and chicken cutlet chunks.  It would be a shame to get this to go and lose that bottom crisp.  I’d probably reheat it if I was ordering to go.  The hot peppers were cherry peppers that gave it a nice complement to the pilsners.

They also do some really great Italian dishes.  In previous visits, I’ve had the Rigatoni Bolognese.  It is amazing and I’ve come back repeatedly for this dish.  I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a dinner that isn’t pizza and beer.

Craft in Pleasantville is a smallish place with maybe 7-8 tables.  The bar is also a bit small with 8 stools.  I’ve seen the place get packed so plan accordingly.  The locals are all here and there is no doubt you’ll run into friends and neighbors.

When it gets warmer they open their garage door walls to allow the fresh air and there is also outdoor seating in front.  The outdoor area is pretty big and allows them to be a much bigger restaurant. There is free parking in the back behind the restaurant but that can get full.  There is also some street parking.
