Emma’s Ale House in White Plains – Dog Person? Drink & Eat Here
Cozy, Good Beer & Dog Themed.
Who is Emma? From the website:
Emma is our beloved 8 year old lab and the inspiration behind Emma’s Ale House. Highly intelligent and super friendly, Emma, the daughter of Misty and Joe, was adopted from a breeder in North Carolina 6 years ago. She has brought much love and joy to our family. A year later we added her sister Morgan and In 2011 her half brother Rooney, a black lab, to our family.
That’s enough reason for me to visit Emma’s, and I did!
Every restaurant should have a water bowl out front.
Emma’s a great restaurant on Gedney Way in White Plains, just off the very beaten path of Mammaroneck Ave. It features a long bar and two dining rooms.
On this Saturday night around 7, the place was bustling! There was, thankfullly, a single seat available at the bar and I think it was still warm from its previous inhabitor. Thankfully or I would have found myself on the strip at Ron Blacks or maybe Wolf and Warrior which wasn’t my mode this evening.
Emma’s has a cozy and unpretentious spot with a wonderful vibe that’s perfect for a casual night out or a get-together with friends.
The menu at Emma’s is full of tasty American classics. I tried the Buffalo Chicken Lollipops. There were 4, but meaty and tasty. I prefer my sauce a bit hotter, but I did not specifically ask for them to be hot, so that’s all good. They came with blue cheese, celery, and carrots without having to ask for them. I also had the Onion Rings, which came in a tower. I always like that. It’s an unnecessary nice touch but it is a nice touch and shows they go the little bit extra for the experience. Onion Rings were real onion and battered but not overly bready. A+
The service at Emma’s Ale House in the restaurant area seemed fine. My bartender though… This was a man who was swamped handling a full bar and restaurant drink orders. He was not talkative and seemd a bit on the cranky side. He did provide the required “How is everything?” question, though he turned his back to handle other matters as I answered. Even though the place was a bit loud as it was full, it wasn’t overwhelming.
I did notice that the prices seemed a bit higher than what was listed on some online menus. The times be what they are. So just FYI, these pics of the menu were taken on 2/17/24.
That’s a pretty decent beer menu up there and I was glad not to see a tap full of your mass produced Anheiser, Coors and Millers. You can get those in bottles if you like. They do have a beer named after Emma and I had a couple. “Emma’s Cream Ale” This is something of a cross between your traditional cream ale and a lager. It was very tasty and I had a couple. Not too heavy but full bodied.
As for the hours, they’re pretty convenient, open for dinner most days and even offering lunch on Sundays though currently closed on Tuesdays. This flexibility is great for planning a visit on almost any day of the week. You’ll find their hours posted on their website home page at: https://emmasalehouse.com/
In summary, Emma’s Ale House is a real gem in White Plains. The atmosphere is just right for a relaxed meal, the food is delicious, and the service is top-notch. It’s easy to see why it’s rated so highly across different platforms like Google, Facebook, Foursquare, OpenTable, and TripAdvisor. I’ll definitely be going back!
