Foley’s Club Lounge, Pleasantville, NY
Local Watering Hole
Foley’s in Pleasantville is a mainstay with the locals. They proudly boast, “Established in 1954” so that gives you an idea. This is an Irish Pub. It’s a local gathering spot that you’ll find filled on weekend afternoons and through the day as patrons gather to drink, eat and laugh.
I visited on Black Friday to watch some Futbol and have one of the best chicken sandwiches around. The bar was almost packed already and by half-time, the place was filled with locals. It was probably a bit busier than usual with family visiting home on Thanksgiving break.
Here is that Cajun Chicken Sandwich. Filled with mushrooms, onions, and jack cheese. There are fries options. Go with the steak fries. You’re in an Irish Pub after all. Consider some vinegar for those bad boys.
The usual beers are on tap. Nothing really special. I settled in with a few Yuenglings to go with my lunch. Behind the long wooden bar is all of the usual pub spirits and attentive bartenders. For lunch on this Friday, Mike was tending. He’s a fine, attentive Irish fellow. He’s happy to trade barbs with the regulars but eat and drink enough, and he’ll take care of you, right.
The Foley’s menu is filled with all of the required pub staples. The “famous” wings are great! I’ll have to try a few more items and report back.
There are other expected elements of a local pub that don’t disappoint such as a jukebox, screens for the games, darts, etc. There are signs for karaoke and trivia. Great place to watch the NY Rangers, Yanks and Mets and all the football coverage, including the Pleasantville Panthers High School games.
The one negative, which might add to the almost 70-year-old charm is the men’s bathroom which looks like it hasn’t been remodeled in that long. I think if you get close enough to the hole in the back wall/floor, you can see the basement. I didn’t get to peek in the women’s room. Good luck.
Otherwise, you should visit Foley’s and elbow along with the jovial locals. It’s located right in downtown Pleasantville, on Bedford Road, and a two-minute walk to the train station and the rest of the crawlable spots in Pville.
