The nightlife in Chappaqua isn’t so crazy, but at the same time, Chappaqua has a crime rate well below the national average. Coincidence? There are a couple of great restaurants, but if you want to do a pub crawl, you’re probably better off in Pleasantville.
There is one stand out where the locals gather for a few drinks at the bar, some friendly conversation, and your pretty typical pub eats. The Quaker Hill Tavern.
“Meet you at the tavern” is what you’ll hear the neighborly folks say when they want to gather. No one gets confused because there is only one.
The bar boasts about a dozen stools plus a few high-tops and is fully stocked, and the bartender, Erin, is happy to serve and she’ll treat you right. Ask her for something original, and she’ll be happy to whip something up. I’ve been here several times, and I’m sure there are other bartenders, but I’ve only been there when Erin is tending. Hmm..
There are a few parking spots right in front if you’re lucky, a few on the side shared by the other small businesses, and then there is the lot across the street as your default and most likely spot. All free parking, btw.
For the menu, which you’ll have to pull up on your phone, you’ll find the usual pub fair but a nice selection of prefab burgers and sliders. There are a couple of entrees and some other semi-original appetizers and salads..
On my visit, I had these great buffalo chicken nachos. These pair nicely with a Narragansett though you’ll find the usual mass-produced beers on tap with a couple of local favorites like Captain Lawrence.
There is a dining room, normally staffed by the local high school kids but they do a good job. Tip those college-bound kids! It can get busy on weekend nights so be prepared to have a drink at the bar while you wait. Oh well. You’ll find some outdoor seating in front when it gets warmer.
You’ll see the Americana throughout. It’s Chappaqua, home of some prominent American statesmen so why not. The decor also features their sign wall. Fun to read when you’re half in the bag ;-)
It may be the only pub game in town but if it’s a pub you want, Quacker Hill Tavern will surely deliver. Great bar, service, vittles, and Erin. What more could you ask for?
