Sing-Sing Kill Brewery in Ossining, NY

Exceptional beers brewed here!

There’s a great little brewery in downtown Ossining on Spring Street just a couple blocks off of Main and right across from the police station, Sing Sing Kill Brewery.

I’ve made a few visits here recently.  The beer is outstanding and the variety is great.  They’re not full of just IPA’s like many breweries today and the varieties I’ve tried were all perfectly tasty!  I highly recommend a flight…

The filp-side of the menu shows a couple more varieties, some distilled spirits, wines and some snacking options but don’t expect a restaurant menu.  The focus here is the beer.

There was a light happy hour crowd when I went most recently on a Friday around 4.  It does pick up a bit more later on.  There are events posted for some more fun activities:

There’s a decent amount of seating at the long bar, tables and barrels.  You can see the brewery at the far end of the first pic.  Off-limits to us common folk.

Sing-Sing Kill Brewery is also very dedicated to it’s sustainability processes.  The beer is brewed with 100% renewable energy and they boast a zero waste policy.  Also, all ingredients in their brews are from locally sourced farms.  From their website:

Our passion for environmental conservation predates our love of craft beer. That’s why we built sustainable practices into every aspect of our brewery and taproom right from the very start.

Kudos to them!

A couple more notes.  The place is spotless.  Brewing beer means cleanliness and sanitization is priority.  The brewery is closed off and you can see through the glass doors just how clean it is.  The same practice is employed in the taproom as well.  The bathrooms are also spotless and sustainability shows also.  I never saw one of these faucets before, but the hand dryer is part of the faucet.  You never move your hands from the sink or touch anything to dry them. Pretty neat.

And then there’s this question-maker in the bathroom.  I considered asking about it but then that would just ruin the mystery.  Things that make you go hmmm…

In case you were wondering, “Sing Sing” is is a prison in Ossining, NY and probably what Ossining is best known for, though there is much more to see than the prison in Ossining.  It’s a great community that prides itself on it’s culture and community events, as well as having amazing views of the Hudson River

And also if you were wondering, “Kill” is another word for a creek or river.  Ossining has a ‘kill’ running through it.

Now you get the name!

Pros

  • Great beer!
  • High sustainablity standards
  • Beer ingredients locally sourced
  • Clean as a whistle

Cons

  • There are light snacks but plan dinner elsewhere. There are plenty of great restaurants in Ossining
