This post updated 2/20/23!
I was not enamored on my first visit to the Blazer Pub almost a year ago, but I have returned and can understand why this burger was voted as Westchesters favorite burger. A much, much better experience this time! A lot of my previous review stands, but I’ve updated where necessary…
I went today and immediately loved the place. It’s a pub. It’s all decked out in St. Patty’s green and shamrocks all over the place. They’re all ready for the holiday, that’s for sure. With the old bar, classic blues rock, friendly faces, and Tom at the bar, it seemed like there wouldn’t be anything to dislike.
The menu was great for a pub. Apps, salads, burgers, sandwiches and fish and chips. Perfect!
There was a short selection of beers on tap. There were the regulars plus Captain Lawrence Pale Ale, so I made that choice. It’s a great beer to have with a burger, and it just made sense to have a Westchester burger with a Westchester Ale. Tom, behind the moderately busy bar, was attentive, and the beer was cold but not freezing. Nice.
It didn’t take long to order my medium burger with swiss and grilled onions while enjoying my beer. Tom asked if I wanted fries on the side. Usually, fries are included with burgers just about everywhere, so I found out that would be extra. But I said yes. While I waited, the guy next to me received his order of wings. They looked great, and I started thinking I might have to take an order to go.
The burger came quickly enough. It looked like a fine burger, and the fries looked great. Good call. They were steak fries almost as thick as wedges, and I like a ‘meaty’ fry.
Recent visit burger review:
This was a damn good burger. Cooked to perfection, lots of chees and sauteed onions as ordered. Quite messy as well but that certainly isn’t a problem. Still love the fries. Look at this burger, cooked to my medium request perfection:
That was about as satisfying as it gets. The burger was hot and juicy. This is no smashed burger. It’s thick and rich. With swiss and sauteed onions and A1 Steak Sauce, it was excellent. The barmaid Krystal(as seen on the receipt), was great as well. She was totally friendly with the guests, and it was a busy time. The bar was packed, and she was still great. The locals had packed the place for sure though it was lunchtime on Sunday.
I am going to point out the receipt, though. The burger comes ala carte, so fries are extra. That combined food price is just fine for a good burger and fries. It’s competitive, anyway. But $11.50 for a VooDoo Ranger? That’s a bit crazy. I will say that I ordered three and got one on the house, so no complaints here, but if you go in for 1-2 and don’t eat, that’s what you should expect.
I still didn’t get the wings. It’s on the list. I’ll be back.
As far as my opinion of “Best Burger in Westchester?” I still haven’t met a burger that beats the Piper’s Kilt.

Hi! Yes, I am the manager/ owner who had to evacuate our building because of a propane leak. We were up and running after a minor ( but critical) repair around 3:00. Thank you for understanding the emergency situation.
Very sorry your burger was over cooked. If we had known, we would have made a new burger and probably bought you a beer! Your fry order was, what we call, a ‘smaller than small’ enough for 1 or
2 and the cost is 3.25.
Hopefully this is helpful
Thank you for the feedback! I do believe you would have remade the burger. If I hadn’t eaten half of it already I might have asked. I will definitely be back and I’m sure to make an update to the review!
Finally updated!
