Good times and great wings at The Candlelight Inn in Scarsdale

Best Wings?  Yeah, they are definitely up there!

The Candlelight Inn in Scarsdale has been around a good bit longer than me.  Since 1955!

The Candlelight Inn is kind of a well known, yet hidden gem on Central Park Avenue, known far and wide for serving up the best wings in Westchester. Let me tell you, their reputation is well-deserved. I stopped by recently and tried the honey-hot wings – a perfect mix of sweetness with just enough heat to keep things interesting. They were plump, meaty, and had that crispy perfection that makes you want to order seconds (and maybe thirds). If you’re a fan of wings, you’re in for a treat here because the variety is fantastic. They even have a special called Chornobyl Wings for those who like their spice off the charts.

One of the great (bad?) things about Candlelight is its small but cozy bar. It’s perfect for enjoying a cold beer while you wait for your food. Their beer selection is surprisingly good, offering a nice mix of options whether you’re in the mood for a local craft or a standard favorite. The bartender was super attentive, making sure my glass was never empty, which is always a plus in my book. The prices? Incredibly reasonable, especially considering the quality and portions you’re getting. You won’t feel like you’re breaking the bank here.

The building itself is pretty unassuming, located on a main thoroughfare—Central Avenue, which connects Yonkers to White Plains. Parking is available in the back, which is really convenient, especially if you’re just swinging by to grab takeout. And trust me, takeout is a great option here; their wings travel well, and it’s a lifesaver if you’re craving them but can’t stay for a sit-down meal.

Beyond wings, their menu is packed with pub classics like seasoned waffle fries, jalapeño poppers, and mozzarella sticks. If you’re in the mood for something more substantial, they’ve got burgers, great pizza, and sandwiches too, making it a great spot for everyone in your group.

The vibe at Candlelight is laid-back, but be prepared for crowds during peak hours—they don’t take reservations, so it’s first come, first served. They’re open until 2 a.m., which makes it the perfect late-night spot for some killer wings and a beer. Just remember, it’s cash-only, so hit the ATM before you arrive.

If you’re ever cruising down Central Ave and feeling hungry, make a stop here. Whether you’re dining in or grabbing takeout, Candlelight Inn is a local staple for a reason. Their wings are truly some of the best you’ll find anywhere.

There is also outdoor covered dining. When I was there, it rained buckets. The covering didn’t help much for that kind of rain, but it would suffice for blazing sun and light rain.

There is free parking, but The Candlelight can get busy Thursday nights through the weekend.  It is definitely a popular late-night hang spot.
