Yorktown

Yorktown is situated in the northern part of the county, approximately 38 miles north of New York City. The town covers an area of 39.4 square miles and has a population of approximately 36,000 people.

The town of Yorktown has a rich history, dating back to the Revolutionary War. The town played a significant role in the American Revolution, as it was the site of the decisive Battle of Yorktown in 1781, which effectively ended the war. Today, the Yorktown Battlefield is a popular tourist attraction and historic landmark.

Yorktown is also home to a number of other historic sites and landmarks, including the Reformed Church of Cortlandtown, which dates back to 1787, and the Underhill Burying Ground, which is one of the oldest cemeteries in the area.
