Pipers Kilt in Eastchester, NY

The best burger in Westchester

We all started our underage drinking somewhere!

Shhh… It was a long time ago.  Get over it.

I’ve been coming to Pipers Kilt for over 30 years.  It was the first bar I ever had a beer in, and I’ll see about making it my last.  Why does one keep coming back for so long?  Quality, price, consistency.

The burger tastes exactly the same as it did 30 years ago.  I would swear they’re still using the same cow!  Not only that, it’s awesome. Cooked to perfection. Great size. Toasted bun. Good toppings options. I highly recommend a Cheddar Burger and add to that whatever you like.

There is a dining area with a mixture of tables and booths.  The place is family-friendly, but the bar can get a little noisy during the games.  The wait staff wears ref shirts and has been forever.  There are only two TVs at the bar, but for big events, expect it to be two deep.

The menu offers standard bar fare and apps with a couple of entrees and some specials on the chalkboard, but really, you come here for the burger.  I mentioned they’re good, right?

As you can see on the menu, the food prices are very reasonable and just downright low for a Westchester restaurant.  But take a look at the draft beer menu.  These are happy hour prices elsewhere if you’re lucky, but at “The Kilt,” these are the regular prices.  Really can’t beat ’em.

And, of course, there’s this guy!

He’s also been here for at least 30 years.  He’s looking a little ragged but still on the watch for those crazy underage drinkers.  “Get your eyes checked ref!”

Pipers Kilt has a parking lot in the back but be a little early if you’re coming during regular meal hours and probably forget it during the games.  It’s small. There is more parking in front across the street, though, in the municipal lot.  Metered parking during the day.  Some might consider this place a local Irish pub, but it’s not overly “Irish.” You might see Sheppards Pie on the specials menu occasionally, but there are no bangers and mash on the regular menu.

The place is clean, and the bathroom was pretty spotless on my latest visit. The appearance is a local bar old-school pub. I bit dimly lit and all wood. The burger is outstanding if I hadn’t mentioned that.

Pros

  • The Burger
  • Clean bathrooms
  • Watch the games
  • The prices
  • The Ref

Cons

  • I got nuttin
